BJP SWEEPS DELHI TO SCORE A HAT-TRICK
The Business Guardian
|June 05, 2024
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) made a hattrick of sweeping all seats in Delhi in the 2024 Lok Sabha election.
-
The saffron party swept all seven seats in the 2014 and 2019 elections too. It shows that in Delhi, the grand old party (Congress) and the Aam Adami Party, as part of the INDIA bloc, are not getting a single seat. Most exit polls also predicted a sweep for the BJP in Delhi.
"From 1952 till date, Delhi has never made the same party win in three consecutive Lok Sabha elections, but today Delhi has expressed confidence in the Modi government and made the BJP win for the third time," said Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva.
Ahead of the polls, many had speculated that the BJP would face significant challenges due to issues such as inflation, unemployment, the Manipur incident, etc.
However, the BJP managed to overcome these obstacles and secured victory in all parliamentary constituencies in Delhi.
The Lok Sabha elections in Delhi were held in one phase. Voting for all seven Lok Sabha seats in Delhi was held on May 25 under Phase 6. The election battle primarily resolved around a bipolar contest between the BJP and the I.N.D.I.A. alliance, led by the grand old party Congress. It was a first-of-its-kind election that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Congress joined forces to challenge the ruling BJP, but yet again the saffron party managed another victory in Delhi's Lok Sabha elections.
