The national transporter is expected to have an operating ratio of 98.7% in FY 2024-25
-
Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said on Thursday that the three rail corridors, as announced in the Interim Budget of 202425 by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, will incur a cost of Rs 11 trillion for the Central government. These corridors are set to contribute an additional 40,000 kilometers (km) of tracks to the current railway network.
"Once the three corridors are completed, we will have enough capacity that the problem of waiting lists will be over," the railway minister added.
As per the minister, the national transporter has drawn insights from the development of Vande Bharat and Amrit Bharat trains, which will be utilized to upgrade 40,000 bogies for a speedier and safer experience. He mentioned that these changes will be implemented across both AC and non-AC coaches over a period of 5 years.
