Relentless rain plays spoilsport for Durga Puja preparations in Jamshedpur
The Avenue Mail
|September 24, 2025
As the steel city gears up for Durga Puja, the incessant rain over the past several days has thrown preparations into disarray, leaving artisans and puja committees struggling to meet deadlines.
What should have been an atmosphere of steady progress has instead turned into a race against time, with mud, moisture, and damp conditions threatening the grandeur of Jamshedpur's most awaited festival.
Weather Woes Cripple Pandal Work
Persistent showers have left pandal sites slushy and waterlogged, creating unsafe and unwelcoming conditions for artisans. Bamboo structures, cloth hangings, and decorative models-many made of delicate plaster of Paris-remain vulnerable to moisture damage.
Committees are facing mounting challenges as idols and exteriors cannot be painted properly, with frequent downpours washing away layers of painstaking artistry.
Artisans Under Pressure
