A 78-year-old Filipino-Chinese businesswoman was rescued on Thursday, September 11, after her abductors brought her to a bank in Quezon City to withdraw ransom money.
A swift response by the Philippine National Police to a 911 call led to the arrest of the suspects, ending the victim's nine-day captivity.
According to Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jonvic Remulla, the woman was abducted on September 2 while on her way home from work along C3 Road in Quezon City.
The woman, a widow, hails from a prominent family involved in the manufacturing of industrial goods.
She was held for ransom initially pegged at P150 million.
The victim's brother reported the incident to the PNP-Anti-Kidnapping Group (AKG), prompting authorities to map out a rescue plan.
