KGM's Musso Saracen is a cost-effective alternative, writes Alan Anderson

Pick-up a bargain in these taxing times

There's been much of confusion over where King Cab pickups stand in terms of what's reclaimable.

Last April, HMRC updated rules on how double and extended cab pickups are treated for Personal Benefit-in-Kind (BIK) tax, capital allowances, and business profit deductions, reclassifying them as company cars. But what many + don't realise is that the VAT rules have stayed exactly the same.

That means a pickup having a payload of over one tonne, and a business that is VAT-registered, VAT still fully reclaimable plus benefit from £345 first year VED (road tax), just like before.

Musso, formerly Ssangyong but since 2022 owned by the KGM outfit, is a prime example of value over vanity and one of the best value pickups around.
