Man must pay compensation to officer he racially abused

A Houghton-le-Spring man has been ordered to pay compensation to a police officer he racially abused while she guarded him on his way into custody.

Gordan Kane, 38, made vile remarks after being arrested after failing a roadside breath test in the town on Thursday, May 22, a court heard.
While being transported in a police van, foulmouthed Kane, of Sherburn Grove, used two swear words in referencing his view the officer was "foreign",
