Mofokeng's goal in the 105th minute made the difference

- By Siyasanga Monoalibe at the Peter Mokaba Stadium

Now officially a former Orlando Pirates player, despite playing his final game for the club having already signed for US-based outfit Chicago Fire, Mbekezeli Mbokazi could not have asked for a better way to bow out of a club that changed his life in an instant than helping them to win the Carling Knockout after 14 years of trying.

Pirates added the Carling Knockout to their cabinet last night when they produced a hard-fought 1-0 win in extra time against a gutsy Marumo Gallants at a sold-out Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane, Limpopo.

It was Relebohile Mofokeng's goal in the 105th minute that made a difference and ended the Buccaneers' hoodoo in the knockout cup competition.

Before last night, the Sea Robbers last lifted the knockout trophy in 2011, when they beat the now-defunct Bidvest Wits 3-1, which was the first and last time to win it.
