KZN officials explore urbanisation and climate resilience in India

A KWAZULU-NATAL delegation visited India this week to look at urbanisation, city infrastructures and climate resilient infrastructure.

At the invitation of the Government of India to the urban conclave conference, KwaZulu-Natal MEC of Public Works and Infrastructure, Martin Meyer, led a delegation that included eThekwini Mayor, Cyril Xaba, the chief director, Joey Krishnan, of KZN COGTA, KZN Public Works and Infrastructure head of department, Vish Govender and head of ministry, Hlanganani Gumbi.

The delegation visited Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi in Kerala.

Steve Bhengu, spokesperson for Public Works and Infrastructure, said the purpose of the visit was to also formalise an exchange programme for technical climate resilient infrastructure skills exchange for Public Works engineers and architects.

“This would see KZN Public Works and Infrastructure professionals learning valuable skills and expertise from their Indian counterparts.
