A slow-burn interrogation of truth and reputation
Sunday Tribune
|March 08, 2026
NETFLIX isn't exactly known for subtlety, but Accused quietly proves it can land a punch without shouting.
KONKONA Sen Sharma plays Dr Geetika Sen, a respected gynaecological surgeon in Accused, whose life unravels after allegations surface, questioning her professional conduct.
Right from the start, you know this isn’t your usual thriller. There’s no racing stretchers or life-or-death emergencies.
The hospital is just the backdrop, a place of structure, professionalism, and procedures, and the real tension comes from something far trickier: how a single accusation can unravel a life that looked flawless from the outside.
At the centre of this film is Dr Geetika Sen (Konkona Sen Sharma), a competent and respected surgeon whose life seems put together. She knows her work, her patients trust her, and nothing in her professional world screams “scandal”.
That’s why this hits harder when anonymous allegations of sexual misconduct start to surface at her hospital. Suddenly, everyone from her workplace to strangers online has an opinion about her.
And here’s where the film’s first strong theme shows up: reputation is fragile. One accusation doesn’t just affect Geetika’s job. It seeps into her relationship, her adoption plans with her wife and her mental space.
