NORTHERN LEAGUE NEWCASTLE BLUE STAR 1 HORDEN CW 1 DIVISION ONE

Blue Star kept at bay by 'tremendous' Dean

Action from Newcastle Blue Star's draw with Horden CW, which saw Horden keeper Robert Dean in the thick of the action

HORDEN CW manager Jonny Payne praised goalkeeper Robert Dean for a “tremendous” display in his side's 1-1 draw at Newcastle Blue Star.

The experienced stopper made a whole host of eye-catching saves to ensure his side claimed a share of the spoils on a stormy night at the KD Stadium.

It was the visitors who struck first as they reaped the rewards of a fast-paced start when midfielder Chris Wallace produced a stunning strike to give his side a lead with just four minutes on the clock.

However, the lead would be short-lived as Blue Star got back on level terms within three minutes with a goal from a corner kick that was initially claimed by striker Dan Wilson - but appeared to have found its way into the net via a Horden defender.
