PM set to recognise Palestine tomorrow

- BY MIKEY SMITH Deputy Political Editor

KEIR Starmer will this afternoon announce that Britain will recognise Palestine as a state.

The Prime Minister promised in July to acknowledge statehood if the situation in Gaza did not improve.

It is understood No10 believes affairs have worsened significantly and that the images of violence, starvation and suffering are intolerable.

The announcement will come ahead of a formal recognition to the United Nations by Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper and Deputy Prime Minister David Lammy tomorrow.
