Legend Beem: Mcllroy favourite at 'home... but biggest threat is World No.1 Scottie
RORY MCILROY is the hot favourite to win this week's US PGA and get halfway to a calendar Grand Slam.
That's the verdict of US Tour legend Rich Beem.
He is predicting a “battle royal” with world No.1 Scottie Scheffler in the second Major of the season.
Sky Sports analyst and 2002 US PGA winner Beem (below) would love the top two in the world to be paired in the opening rounds.
Masters winner Mcllroy will now bid to equal Sir Nick Faldos UK record of six Majors, as he returns to Quail Hollow, where he has already won four times.
Jordan Spieth dubs the North Carolina venue “Rory McIlroy Country Club”.
