Amorim: Midfielder needs to learn from club legends
RUBEN AMORIM has told Kobbie Mainoo to use Wayne Rooney and Ronaldo as role models and "fight for his job" at Manchester United.
The Old Trafford chief says Mainoo should look to the former United greats who both had spells on the bench, but knuckled down to fight for their futures.
Mainoo is yet to start a league game this season and could leave on loan next month, with Serie A high-flyers Napoli leading the list.
But Amorim, whose no-nonsense words on Friday echoed that of Old Trafford legend Roy Keane (right), said: "Kobbie needs to fight for his job.
"That is not a bad thing to be on the bench of Manchester United when you are 20 years old.
"I remember Ronaldo was on the bench, Rooney was on the bench sometimes, Juan Sebastian Veron was not playing...
"I remember all the history of Manchester United.
