Mum and baby both left fighting for life

A MUM and her newborn daughter were left fighting for life with the same condition in the same hospital.
The mother, named only as Helen, and baby Maeve needed ventilators to breathe after suffering myasthenia gravis, a rare condition which causes muscle weakness and shortness of breath.
Helen has the condition and her antibodies appeared to have crossed to Maeve.
Both were treated at Worcestershire Royal Hospital in Worcester, which brought them together for their first skin-to-skin contact while they were still in intensive care.
