Accident victims married after Alton Towers date ended in disaster

LEAH Washington-Pugh and Joe Pugh, then 17 and 18, were on a date when they were injured in The Smiler crash.

Leah’s legs were crushed while Joe’s kneecaps were shattered and his fingers severed as their carriage rammed into another.

Ten years later, the couple have been married a year, and say they couldn’t be happier.

Leah said: “Me and Joe were such a good support for each other. Our injuries were there but we still had that relationship and friendship and that got us through”
