Marchers call for government action

PROGRESS on child poverty in Scotland is “nowhere near enough” a charity has said, as thousands joined a march demanding action.

The Scotland Demands Better protest was organised by trade unions and charities to push for more action on poverty ahead of the UK Budget and next year's Holyrood elections.

They called for social security improvements, better jobs and investment in housing and transport.

Crowds gathered at Holyrood in Edinburgh yesterday morning and marched to a rally at the Meadows.
