27 dead as hunt for flood victims goes on
AT least 27 people, including nine children, were yesterday confirmed dead after a devastating flash flood swept through a Christian camp for little girls.
Last night a search was under way for 27 more youngsters still missing from the camp in the US state of Texas as well as an unknown number of other victims lost in other locations.
Homes and vehicles were also washed away when a massive downpour caused the Guadalupe River to rise 26ft in just 45 minutes.
The missing children were staying at Camp Mystic, in Texas Hill Country, northwest of San Antonio, when the flood hit just before dawn on Friday.
One of those who died was nine-year-old Renee Smajstrla.
