Scots music writer gets to the bottom of one of the biggest romantic rumours in pop history in new book about The Purple One

- BY RICK FULTON

IT'S still seen as one of the oddest pairings in musical history.

In 1987 squeaky clean reality star Sheena Easton, a miner's daughter from Bellshill, North Lanarkshire, duetted with superstar Prince on U Got the Look. Rumours have followed Sheena ever since that they were an item, something she has always insisted are false.

But a new biography, Prince: A Sign o' the Times by Scots ex-Smash Hits and Q Magazine editor John McKie suggests they dated.

McKie has spoken to 220 people for the book and tried 10 times to get Sheena, 66, to speak.

He said: "People are still interested in what went on with one of pop's most explicit stars and Esther Rantzen's mate."
