Weather set to break record for sunniest spring and we've already beaten last summer's tally

SCOTLAND could be about to break the record for its sunniest spring as most of the country has already had more sunshine than all of last summer.

Last month already produced astonishing sunshine totals, making it the second sunniest April in history, the Met Office said.

Now, in the first 15 days of this month, Scotland saw 136.6 hours of sunshine, just about 40 short of the 178 hours you would normally see in an entire May.
