WHEN predator Ryan McVeigh appeared in court in November 2023, he was considered enough of a threat to women to be remanded in custody.

At the time he had carried out one rape and conned seven victims via elaborate dating app scams.

Even though the full extent of this offending does not appear to have been known to Crown prosecutors, he had been charged on petition, meaning his case was considered to be at the most serious end of criminality.

So why was he allowed to walk free from prison a week later before going on to terrorise another 10 women, one of whom was raped?

Tens of thousands of pounds was stolen, lives were shattered, and all of it could have been avoided if McVeigh had been kept behind bars, where he belonged.
