Kennedy vows Kilby style will take it to big boys
MICK KENNEDY has listened to the jibes about East Kilbride's lavish spending and the digs about their possessionhungry brand of football.
And he's determined to ram the critics' sneers right back down their throats.
The SPFL new boys are preparing for an assault on League Two after ending a 12-year wait for promotion into the big time.
Not content with just getting there, Kennedy wants to win the division at the first time of asking.
And he has vowed to do it by playing one of the most possession-based styles in the entire SPFL.
Big ambitions... but it's not unprecedented.
Kelty Hearts did just that in their maiden SPFL season four years ago and Cove did it two years before.
Kennedy does not deny Kilby had the biggest budget in the Lowland League but nothing that would make the eyes water.
Despite a step up in levels, he and co-boss Si Ferry have the exact same kitty at their disposal this summer as they build a squad capable of challenging for the title.
Kennedy fulfilled his promise to ambitious owners Paul and James Kean that they would guide Kilby into the SPFL.
