Trump threatens 25% tariffs on his European allies unless Denmark sells Greenland to him
DONALD Trump's shock new tariffs will deal a devastating blow to Scotland's whisky industry, experts have warned.
The US president last night made a shock announcement the UK will face an extra 10 per cent levy "on any and all goods" from February 1 until a deal is reached to buy Greenland from Denmark.
The whisky industry has already been facing a sharp downturn due to tough market conditions including an existing 10 per cent tariff on exports to America.
Export costs could rocket even higher if further threats from Trump are carried out which could see crippling charges of 45 per cent or more on single malts, which could impact thousands of jobs.
