Emery keeps a cool head after Buendia floors leaders

- JOHN TOWNLEY AT VILLA PARK

UNAI EMERY claims Aston Villa can not yet be considered contenders to win the Premier League title - even after beating league leaders Arsenal.

The Villa boss insists it's still too early in the campaign to label his team as genuine challengers to the Gunners, despite being just three points behind them.

Emi Buendia scored with the final kick of the game to send Villa Park into raptures.

It was their ninth home win in a row and ninth victory in 10 Premier League games, with Villa inspired once more by Scots star John McGinn.

Matty Cash had opened the scoring in the first half before Leandro Trossard grabbed the leveller for Arsenal early in the second period. Asked if Villa were title challengers, Emery said: "I am not thinking it. I know 38 matches is very difficult. We are not a contender.

"If we were in Day 35, perhaps we can speak differently.
