Elvis pins hopes on academy graduates Mulligan and Co to give Dundee boost
STEVEN PRESSLEY has seen the huge wages being banked by young players in England before they've even played what he calls a game of “real” football.
He has also baulked at the unreal money sloshing around the lower leagues and even non-league level down south that would blow most Scottish Premiership sides out the water.
Never has the gulf between the finances on opposite sides of the border been bigger, according to Pressley.
But it doesn't have to mean bad news.
Not when the new Dundee boss knows the easiest way - perhaps the only way - to get quality on the field at Dens Park is to produce it themselves.
Bringing through more like Josh Mulligan, Lyall Cameron, Fin Robertson and Luke Graham.
Dundee started more of their own academy products than any other Premiership side last season according to new stats.
And it’s something Pressley, fresh from four years as head of individual development at Brentford, is determined to continue with the financial gulf growing every year.
