BOB MALCOLM always believed Barry Ferguson would get a crack at being Rangers manager - but not in the current circumstances.

The former Ibrox star, who was part of their Treble-winning side in 2003 alongside Ferguson, was also his assistant coach at Kelty Hearts and Alloa Athletic.

As the ex-Gers skipper started out on his coaching journey, Malcolm believed he could reach the top.

That didn't happen when things went pear-shaped at the Wasps.
