DEREK MCINNES was thrilled at Kilmarnock becoming road warriors at the right time to ease clear of drop-zone danger.

The Killie gaffer admitted fans had suffered too many sorry trips home after agonising Premiership away days.

But, thanks to early goals in either half from David Watson and Danny Armstrong, a repeat was never on the cards in Perth.

Simo Valakari's strugglers offered little threat after Armstrong's spot-kick and it's looking like when - and not if - they automatically go down.

It's Ross County at McDiarmid on Saturday, with a win essential to keep them clinging on.
