CHINESE company BYD has added the lovely little Atto 2 to its catalogue.

BYD show how to do a ferry good job with the impressive electric Atto 2 Boost SUV

It’s a good-looking, nippy SUV and comes fully loaded with stuff like a panoramic roof and heated and electrically adjusted front seats — unusual for the small B segment.

This was not what caught my attention however. As country manager Bono Ge - or employee number one as he styled himself - explained, in business BYD prefer to do everything in house.

They started in 2013 when he arrived alone from China and began operations out of his flat in Shepherd's Bush

They now number 200 staff in a state-of-the-art building in Uxbridge.

It is a phenomenal rise in just 12 years - and there's more. To facilitate sales across the globe in 112 countries, they announced in 2022 they would build a fleet of eight roll on-roll off ferries to get their product to market.
