BRUCE MOUAT came up agonisingly short in his bid for Olympic gold as Team GB lost 9-6 to Canada in the curling final.

- BY IAN ORR

Mouat's team were looking for Britain's first gold in the men's event for 102 years but had to settle for silver again.

Britain suffered a catastrophic ninth end while leading 6-5 during a closely fought contest as they lost a three to their Canadian opponents.

Skip Brad Jacobs had a chance for a four but slid out with his final stone. But he did what was required on the final end to triumph.

Meanwhile, Zoe Atkin's bid for Olympic gold was delayed by 18 hours after a whiteout in Livigno.

Great Britain freestyle skier Atkin was the top qualifier into the women's halfpipe final. However, she was left frustrated as a snowstorm kept everyone in their hotels.
