Suicide calls to firefighters at record high

FIREFIGHTERS have responded to a record number of call-outs to suicides or attempted suicides, shocking figures show.
The numbers have tripled within a decade and last year they attended 3,113 incidents in England alone.
Although just a fraction of the 207,456 non-fire incidents attended, Samaritans argue those experiencing suicidal thoughts are being failed, along with frontline workers.
The charity says three in four people who take their own life aren't in touch with mental health services in the 12 months before they die.
