'One-star' hospitals fail food hygiene test

THREE hospitals have failed basic food hygiene tests, with another 17 handed low marks following government inspections.
Ellingham Hospital in Attleborough, Norfolk, and Singleton Hospital Central Production Unit in Sketty, a suburb of Swansea, scored one out of five the lowest rating possible over the past two months.
And the Queen Victoria Hospital Foundation Trust in East Grinstead, West Sussex, only earned a two after its inspection in March by the Food Standards Agency.
Both a one and a two rating are a fail, with one indicating that major improvement is necessary and two some improvement.
A further 17 hospitals were awarded a three, meaning they met legal food hygiene requirements but could polish up areas such as documentation, cleaning or staff training.
