EVERTON saved the best until last, with a late equaliser from Jake O’Brien rescuing David Moyes against his old club.

This was a low-quality affair but the battling heart instilled by Moyes since his return in January meant Everton extended their unbeaten league run to nine games.

Until the 90th minute, they were heading for defeat thanks to a seventh league goal of the campaign by Tomas Soucek (right) on 67 minutes.

But Republic of Ireland defender O’Brien was in the six-yard box as the game ticked into added time to bury a powerful header and break Hammers hearts.

Goodison finally lit up and Carlos Alcaraz so nearly won it in the closing seconds, shooting the wrong side of the post.
