More major retailers offer big pay rises

JOHN Lewis and Currys have joined other retailers in offering their staff pay rises ahead of the UK's minimum wage increase next month.
John Lewis announced on Thursday that around 65,000 shop workers will receive a raise of at least 7.4%, while Currys' 15,000 retail staff will see a 6% increase.
Both pay increases exceed inflation and follow similar moves by Marks & Spencer, B&Q, Sainsbury's, Lidl and Costa Coffee, among others.
