Minister calls for trans ban in all sports

CULTURE Secretary Nadine Dorries will this week push sporting bodies to stop male-born transgender athletes from entering female events.
She will urge Sport England and organisations representing athletics, cricket, football, rugby and tennis to follow the lead of the International Swimming Federation (Fina).
Fina this month voted to bar transgender athletes from women’s elite races if they have experienced any part of male puberty.
The Culture Secretary welcomed Fina’s decision as reason “returning to the world of sport”.
Ahead of her meeting with officials on Tuesday, she said: “When I gather our own sporting governing bodies this week, I’ll be making it crystal clear that I expect them to follow suit.”
Writing in the Mail on Sunday, Ms Dorries argues that in most sports “asking women and teenage girls to compete against someone who was biologically born a male is inherently unfair”.
