Man dies in knife attack on police

A HERO bystander who tried to stop a knife-wielding terrorist attacking a group of police officers was killed in France yesterday.
The Portuguese national, 69, intervened when an Algerian man, 37, due to be deported from France, began randomly attacking a group of police officers on duty in the eastern French town of Mulhouse.
Two of the officers were seriously wounded, one in the neck and one in the throat, while three others suffered minor injuries.
It took place at a demonstration in support of the Democratic Republic of Congo, where the officers were on patrol.
The suspect was arrested at the scene.
