SHANE MacGowan's grieving wife wants Fairytale Of New York to be Christmas number one this year after her husband died aged 65.
The Pogues frontman died from pneumonia on Thursday after a long illness. The star had revealed he had been diagnosed with encephalitis in a video on New Year's Eve last year.
The song, with Kirsty MacColl, is seen as the band's most iconic track, becoming an annual favourite despite never making it to Christmas number one since its 1987 release.
