A STITCH in time may just save the planet if some of the 1.4 billion garments going to landfill each year could be repaired instead.
A third of adults admit having thrown away new clothes in recent years amid the rise in fast fashion.
But retired nurse Debbie Kennedy, 60, is among those who have joined a repair café where clothes are mended and found it was more than just her wardrobe that was given a welcome boost.
She said attending her local Greener and Cleaner Hub's knitting and crotchet group in Bromley, South East London, has also helped "repair those bits of me that have been broken along the way".
