Delay 'risks breaking osteoporosis promise'

LABOUR risks betraying older and disabled people by not honouring its pre-election pledge to roll out simple national osteoporosis checks, Health Secretary Wes Streeting was warned.

Cross-party pressure is mounting on the Government to publish its "bone plan" and bring an end to a postcode lottery of care across England.

Leading figures want "fracture liaison services" in the half of NHS trusts that lack them so patients are checked for the potentially deadly bone disease when they turn up with a fracture.
