Agri Minister unveils first genome-edited rice varieties

Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers! Welfare and Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan unveiled the world's first two genome-edited rice varieties today at the Bharat Ratna C. Subrahmanyam Auditorium of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) , New Delhi.

A large number of scientists and farmers participated in the event. On this occasion, the scientists who contributed to the research of both varieties, DRR Rice 100 (Kamla) and Pusa DST Rice, were also honoured.
