THE mother of Southport killer Axel Rudakubana “lay down on the bed and prayed” as her son left the house for the first time in two years to attack a dance class.

Laetitia Muzayire said she had been working night shifts on July 29, 2024, before she woke to the sound of the front door banging. She looked out the window of her older son’s bedroom and saw her younger son Rudakubana walking down the road.

She said: “He was not running or walking fast, he moved slowly. He was wearing the black trousers and jumper and he did not have a bag or anything with him. I watched his back as he walked out of the close.”
