Floreat Primary School's Grade 7 pupils stepped into leadership during the annual prefect investiture ceremony on Saturday, February 28.
Floreat Primary School's prefect body 2026 with teacher Eden Jales and principal Hilton Palanyandi.
Pupils received their blazers, symbolising responsibility, integrity, and service, and were encouraged by teachers, alumni, and families.
Principal Hilton Palanyandi said the ceremony recognises pupils who have consistently demonstrated the school's values.
"Being appointed as a prefect is not simply about wearing a blazer; it is recognition of character, responsibility, and leadership," he said. "Leadership is not about authority but influence and example. Prefects should display kindness, fairness, humility, and courage, serving fellow learners with care."
He emphasised that leadership is nurtured long before Grade 7 through classroom responsibilities, teamwork, sports, and cultural activities. "Lead with your heart and your example. Younger learners follow what you do more than what you say," he said.
Former principal Noel Isaacs said it was inspiring to see such young pupils embrace leadership.
