WALES FACING HORROR DRAW

WALES are facing up to the prospect of a nightmare draw for rugby’s next World Cup.

- JOHN JONES

Saturday’s demoralising defeat by Japan has seen Wales drop to a new all-time low of 14th in the World Rugby rankings.

And Wales’ spiral down the global rankings - brought on by a record losing run of 18 successive Test match defeats - has triggered the very real threat of a horror draw for the 2027 World Cup in Australia.

Matt Sherratt’s side have slipped below Japan and Samoa in the new rankings as a result of the weekend defeat to Japan.

A second-half implosion saw Wales throw away a 12-point lead, with the home side scoring two tries in the final 20 minutes after Ben Thomas and Tom Rogers crossed for Wales either side of a penalty try.
