Snoop, Luka and new players... interesting times for Swans fans
South Wales Evening Post
|July 18, 2025
SWANSEA City have confirmed that hip-hop icon Snoop Dogg is set to invest in the club as a new minority stakeholder.
The size of the rapper's stake isn’t yet known, but his involvement is a potentially tremendous, albeit slightly surreal, commercial coup for the club.
The news brings an end to speculation over a possible investment, which has swirled ever since the star helped to launch Swansea's new home kit over the weekend, in a move that predictably sparked a big reaction among supporters.
Confirming the move, Swansea said: “Snoop Dogg has been keen on investing in a football club for some time, having previously expressed interest in buying a stake in Scottish giants Celtic.”
This latest news adds to the impression that being a Swansea City fan might well have felt a little surreal lately.
There’s been a positive start to the transfer window, Ballon d’Or winner Luka Modric took a minority investment, then hip-hop icon Snoop Dogg modelled the new home shirt and is now set to invest in the club.
Life has been very colourful in SA1 in recent weeks.
Snoop Dogg certainly has plenty of cash behind him, with Celebrity Net Worth placing his overall net worth at around $160m (£119.5m). For context, that’s nearly double the estimated net worth of Modric at $75m (£56m).
The 53-year-old rapper also has some history of investing in sport.
In 2005, he launched the Snoop Football League, a nonprofit American football league, operating out of his native city of Los Angeles, that offers opportunities to underprivileged youngsters.
