School closed over knife threat

A LLANELLI primary school which was shut down by police because a threat was made about “individuals attending the premises armed with knives” is to reopen today.
Dafen Primary School, Llanelli
A decision was taken in the early hours of Monday morning to close Dafen CP School in Llanelli after messages were received online which resulted in police taking “safeguarding action”.
Police confirmed on Monday night that a “critical incident” had been declared and that at least 13 police units were deployed to the school and surrounding areas including a fire arms unit, a dog unit, neighbourhood policing and prevention teams, and response officers.
They also revealed that the threat against the school “suggested individuals attending the school with knives on Monday”.
