Jones finds Dutch track to his liking on first visit

MOTORCYCLE ace Lewis Jones made the trip to Assen in the Netherlands for round nine of the British Supersport Championship.

The Ammanford racer was competing for the first time at the famous circuit which is celebrating its centenary.

After a day of practice, Jones entered qualifying and the Sprint race.

He was quick in the opening laps, achieving his best Supersport class lap of the weekend.

The afternoon weather clouded over and as race time approached the circuit was in the midst of heavy rain and thunder. Downpours flooded the track in places and following red flags in the British Superbikes race the day was reorganised for the following day.

The Sprint race took place quickly after the warm-up. Jones enjoyed the dry conditions and rode to his fastest lap of the weekend.
