'LOVELY spam, wonderful spam... it’s enough to have you singing along to the famous Monty Python song.

- Robert Lloyd

If you've got an email account, then spam problems are probably a familiar issue.

Spam volume is generally on the rise, even though the percentage of spam you receive might vary.

Despite improvements in spam filters and stricter regulations, the sheer volume of emails sent worldwide continues to increase.

Cybercriminals are also becoming more sophisticated, using automation to streamline spam content.

One recent report indicated that between 2017 and 2022, the total number of emails sent daily increased from 269bn to 333.2bn, according to EmailTooltester.com.

In 2022, nearly 49% of all emails globally were identified as spam, up from 46% in 2021, according to Eftsure.

The statistics portal Statista reports that in 2023, nearly 45.6% of all emails worldwide were identified as spam.

Just for fun, here’s some examples of the sort of spam landing in my email box (obviously, they ‘claim’ to be from various trade names, but we all know that’s smoke). My response is in italics!
