Husband's 'quick fondle' spotted a vital cancer sign

Samantha Jones found a lump on her breast after a quick fondle from her husband. She was later diagnosed with breast cancer.

One woman who is doing her bit to raise awareness is cancer survivor, Samantha Jones.

The 47-year-old from Hendy was diagnosed with breast cancer in December 2024.

After treatment she was given the all clear from the doctors earlier this year. Now, Samantha is stripping off to encourage people to check their breasts and pecs.

Samantha’s husband, Leighton, first spotted that things weren’t as they seemed in September 2024, when the pair were getting a little frisky.

She said: “His favourite line is ‘a quick fondle saves lives’ and how true when you think about it. It was back in September, when said ‘I found something in your right breast’.

“I had a feel and I didn’t think anything of it because it sat on my rib and it was the tiniest of things. So, I was like ‘I’m not gonna worry about it, I’m not gonna stress.’ I got on with things, completely forgot about it.”

Three months later, Samantha went to see a HRT nurse who asked if she had checked herself recently. That night she checked her breasts, only to find that the lump her husband had discovered had grown significantly to the size of a ping pong ball.

She then went to the doctors to get it check out, although they weren’t too sure what it was exactly. Samantha explained: “The doctor said, ‘because of where it’s sitting, I can’t say it is your boob, and I can’t say if it's something muscular as it’s on your rib”

From then on, everything moved quite quickly. Samantha had a mammogram where nothing flagged up and then a CT scan, where the cancer was discovered.
