“It has taken a lot of hard work but I think everyone can agree that what we have ended up with is more than worth it. There are a few clubs throughout Britain that have been held up as the standard bearers for facilities in our sport. I've been told that ours are now above even that level which is incredible.”

That comes as no surprise seeing the layout, complete with full size and fully movable fighting and sparring ring.
Welsh snooker professional Jamie Clarke is another local boy who has taken up residence at the site. The Jamie Clarke Snooker Academy is now open and in September three-time World champion Mark Williams will be coming down to play an exhibition there.
O'Brien has also known the Clarke family for many years and Jamie is convinced his new base, complete with pro standard competition tables, will further his own career as well as helping to bring through the next generation of talent on the green baize.
“I've practised at the Terry Griffiths club in Llanelli my whole career but have always wanted to find somewhere I can develop as my own space,” says Clarke.
