Firm helping to spread lifesaving kits across region
South Wales Evening Post
|October 30, 2025
A LLANELLI-BASED firm has joined a growing cause and fitted its vehicle fleet with critical bleed control kits in case of emergencies involving their own workforce or the public.
It is understood to be one of the first mobile use of the kits locally and follows a roll out of kits at public locations across parts of Carmarthenshire, including in Llanelli, Burry Port, Pembrey and Llandovery.
The kits contain military grade equipment and a simple to follow body map instruction card. The main elements are a tourniquet, fox chest seal and haemostatic gauze together with blunt edged shears, gloves, foil blanket, resuscitation shield and trauma fix bandage and they are designed to help with major blood loss while the injured party waits for the emergency services to attend.
The scheme is being spearheaded by Heartbeat Trust UK, under its trustee, former High Sheriff of West Glamorgan, Melanie James.
Lewis Construction in Llanelli is the latest business to support the kits and has fitted 20 to its vehicles, as well as providing 12 for the public to use in prominent town locations.
