Ieuan Morris crossed for a hat-trick of Ebbw Vale tries
EBBW Vale fired a warning to their rivals in Super Rygbi Cymru by inflicting a crushing defeat on Cardiff at Eugene Cross Park.
As they bid to go one better this term, another comprehensive win made it three from three with a maximum 18 points already on the board for last season's beaten SRC grand finalists.
The Steelmen went behind early on, but by halftime they had built up a 31-15 lead thanks to a couple of tries just before the break to take control of proceedings, with their first bonus point already in the bag.
Five more tries followed after the restart - they ran in nine in total - with replacement hooker Ieuan Morris helping himself to a second-half hat-trick.
It was also Ebbw’s ninth successful defence of the SRC Challenger Shield since they took it off Llandovery last October.
Ebbw team manager Dilwyn Snelgrove says the way the team has evolved, from perhaps being seen as the league's driving line-out specialists, may catch some by surprise this season.
