Dispute over a dog lead led to 'disturbance'

A DISPUTE over a dog lead led to a disturbance in the street as men armed with weapons confronted each other, a court has heard.

Lewis Dight who initiated the violence by hitting his victim Jamie Glover on the head with a metal pole subsequently went on the run and was found hiding in a “cubby hole” in the base of a bed.

A judge at Swansea Crown Court said both men had acted “disgracefully” on the day in question, and he described 20-year-old Dight as “someone who resorts to violence and threats with weapons”.

Sian Cutter, prosecuting, told the court that on October 18 this year Dight borrowed a dog lead from Glover, a neighbour in McRitchie Place in the Gendros area of Swansea. The following day Glover went to retrieve the item but when he knocked on the defendant's door he was struck on the head with a metal bar by Dight. Feeling blood flowing from a wound on his head, Glover went home.
